R2R 2008 Some campaigns progressing!!!

Happy 2009 to everyone! I hope you are back in shape after Xmas and ready to keep the work done untill now.

Congratulations to Marios, Alina, Petros, Ignat (and some others)... who are informing me about their campaigns' progress. In ETSC we are fairly impressed by the success you are achieving.

Here, you can see a render of the projet that Ignat has developped. To me lookes very impressive but I would like to know your engineer's opinion.
Guys, you can directly post on the blog. Do not hesitate to do it. It is the best way of learning from the others.
And, please... I need to know from you more often. Send me an e-mail from time to time!
PS. I forgot to mention that R2R will be running again in 2009. So let your friends (and professors) know about the project!
Best wishes,
Daniel

Happy New year!!!...Back to Business

Dear all,

After a long end of year break I wish you a happy new year on behalf of everyone at ETSC!

The important news for the fellow R2R students is that we have extended the deadline for the project and will have the Award Ceremony in Brussels in April.

So the new timeline is:

15 of February: deadline to receive updates on student's projects.
15of March: R2R Jury decides winners.
April: Award Ceremony in Brussels, date to be announced.

This means that you all have a little more time to send me materials about your progress. So please do so!

We have decided to have one award per country and one overall award (the one who will be offered an internship with ETSC if he wishes so)

I hope you are all doing well and all the best again!

R2R MiniAwards!... Rossella 12th winner!!!

This week the MiniAward goes to Rossella for identifying a new high risk site. You may remember that Rossella was unfortunate because she did identify one dangerous intersection initially but works started there to improve the safety after a few weeks without her intervening (the authorities had had the same idea as Rossella!)…

Rossella’s new site is a junction in the heart of Brescia that is particularly dangerous because there is a lot of congestion there. Rossella would like to convince the responsible authorities to change the traffic light phasing there as she thinks this will improve the traffic flow. We wish you the best of luck!

R2R MiniAwards!... Beata11th winner!!!

Nice to hear from Poland...congratulations to Beata for her progress! It's a good thing that you took your time if it works out better for you in the end. I really hope that you can be instrumental in helping the local authorities to choose the best solution to fix this dangerous road (I had a look at the pictures...very spooky indeed!!).

For those of you who didn't have a look at Beata's site just click on the title of beata's previous post and zoom in on the picture to see more details.

All the best,

Gabriel
